Boy, did it ever snow....we ended up with 4-6 inches, depending on where you measured outside the RV. Fortunately, there weren't any trees near us as SO MANY trees went down under the weight of that wet heavy snow. The trees are small for the most part and rooted in sand so it didn't take a lot to topple them. Some of the area was without power for 12 hours or more. Fortunately, we had power and TV but the internet (wifi) went out during the storm and we didn't get it back again before we left.
I heard on the local news the last time Florence had snow like this was in 1951. I would have been four years old then. THAT, dear friends, is a LONG time ago!
We left Florence today and came back to Eugene. We were blessed again with an uneventful trip but we sure saw a lot of damage from the snow storm. There won't be any trains running for some time. The tracks were covered with fallen trees and small land slides in too many places to count. One of the disadvantages of having such a large rig on the road is you can't just pull over and take pictures like you can in a car. BUT, I'd prefer to sleep on my sleep number bed in the 5th wheel than the car (!) so it all works out in the end.
It's rainy out today so after we got the place set up again, I did 6 loads of laundry.....it's cheaper here and in Florence so I saved it up and we had a couple bulky coats to launder so, extra laundry.
There are sheep in the field next to us and we've enjoyed watching the babies play together. This afternoon, three of them were running all over the field, chasing each other.
When I was coming back from a trip to the laundry room, a sheep was calling her baby; it's a huge field and I was surprised he was so far away from her. He started to walk in her direction and she called to him again and he started running in her direction. "Get over here NOW" must be the same, no matter the species! I found myself grinning as I walked back in the rain.
Maybe the mama was saying: "Lunch time!!" :-D
