It was overcast today and we had rain showers off and on. Judy didn't want to leave the dogs so Bailey and I drove the 1/4 mile to the beach for a walk between showers.
We enjoyed our time out on the beach. Bailey was admired by a few people and managed to control her barking at other dogs to whimpers. We are TRYING to get her to stop barking at every dog she sees but it's been slow going. Just whimpering IS a step in the right direction. Like our other two dogs, she LOVES people but not their dogs. Dogs are allowed to run free on the beach which could be a problem for people like us with small dogs (we keep ours on a leash) but SO FAR, the dogs we've seen have been well behaved and not at all interested in our girls.
There was a lot of foam on the beach today....when my oldest son, Dustin, was little, he thought it was from whales peeing in the ocean.
People are killed on the local beaches by playing on logs in the surf. It's never locals; they know better. There are signs all over the place warning people to stay off the logs because of the danger but too often, the warnings are ignored. Someone will get up on the logs, the waves come in and roll the logs, the person falls off and the wave takes the log over them. It's always tragic when that happens.
This is a smaller log but you wouldn't want it sitting on your chest!
oh my gosh! I can't believe the size of that! Thanks for the heads up about not getting on the logs. It does look very, very tempting. Up in AK most locals know not to stand near glaciers--- as they calve without warning. But the tourists go up there and stand next to the glaciers. Some have been killed. And how do you put a sign of warning on moving ice?
