We had a "near miss" here yesterday.  Judy had the dogs out in their pen about 8 am when a hawk came right down by the pick-up and grabbed a dove...Judy ran toward them, he dropped the dove, it ran under the truck and when it came out the other side of the truck, the hawk grabbed him again....Judy was right there so he let it go and flew up into the tree....the dove went under our 5th wheel and Judy had to run back to the dogs to protect them, especially little Ruby.  She put the dogs inside, chased the hawk around awhile until it got tired of it and left.  The dove was under the RV next to us...it's vacant....so she put some water out for it and it's not there now so I have no idea what happened to it.

I've always said the food chain can break your heart!

I bought a new "pocket" camera today since my old one died a final death a couple weeks ago.  I've missed it so much so broke down and bought a new Cannon PowerShot SX230 HS....I charged the battery tonight so I can start learning to use it tomorrow.

Judy's sister is coming to visit her Dad from NC Sept 13th and returning home on the 20th.  I'm going to use that same time to fly to Eugene for a visit.  I was able to get a fairly cheap flight out of Phoenix  into Eugene.

I don't know why I torture myself by looking at the weather for Tucson.......more over 100 degree days coming up....all I can say is "UGH"

It looks like we will be leaving Tucson on Oct. 1st for WI.  It will be a pretty time of year to visit there.  We plan to go down through NC to see her sister, Patti, and family and then go to Sanibel Island, FL so we can pick up seashells.....FINALLY!  I'm REALLY looking forward to that...it's been on my bucket list for a long time.

  1. Yikes that is scary! We had a sad paddle the other day due the cycle of life and mating. There was a young male big horn sheep floating in the river after losing a battle over a girl.

  3. I'm having a hard time posting-hoping I got it right this time. I'm so glad Judy was there to save the dogs and the dove. I'm also glad you are goig to Eugene-I think it will be a good trip for you.And...I'm jealous of your trip to Sanibel-it's one of our favorite places to vacation although we haven't been there in a long time). We were given a shell lamp for our wedding-a clear base lamp that you fill with shells. We filled it with shells from the beach there(you definitely want water shoes for shelling and swimming). You need to go to the Bubble Room for lunch or dinner(the portions are huge and a bit pricey so we go for lunch-almost always have leftovers for another meal). Their coconut cake is to die for-the portion is huge and I always take some home-great for breakfast the next day ;).
