We left it on the beach.........where it belongs

We moved the RV to the front of the park, across the road from the laundry area so I can get the wifi in the RV now.  We SHOULD have thought of that sooner....duh! 

We took the girls for a walk on the beach; it was mild down there and not a lot of wind.  It was a nice walk and the girls are all fast asleep, beside me as I type.  They seem to enjoy being in the RV now and Lucy is doing well as long as she gets her daily PROZAC!


The girls weren't the only ones wore out from the short walk to the beach......

There is going to be a sand sculpture event this  next weekend at a local beach.  If it's not raining, we hope to go to it. 

So far, no sight-seeing because of all the rain.

Rain, rain, go away...

OK, so everyday the weather channel says the NEXT day will be sunny with no rain........and then it rains and they say.......the NEXT day will be sunny..........I think they are messing with my head!

We ventured out to a Fred Meyer store today (no bakery around) and ate lunch at what is becoming "our favorite, restaurant before we came back home.  I can't remember WHY we even went to the store. I always hate it when my brain goes on vacation and leaves me home alone!





 

Home, Sweet Home!  My bedroom (by night) office (by day) is in the front where the window is tipped out.

The sun just came out; it's been hiding since we arrived on Friday.  I DO enjoy hearing the rain beat down on the roof but enough is enough.

They say the beach is just a very short walk from our RV but it's been to cold and nasty to venture out.  Between the weather and the black bear sighting we've elected to stay inside.

We drove the very short drive into town today and had lunch at a place that had been recommended to us by the lady at the RV parts store.

We shared clams and fried cod.....they were both really good.  Nice TREAT!

I'm very worried about my eyesight.  I knew we had to stop at the grocery store on our way back and was EXCITED because  on our way past a local store, I saw a BAKERY SIGN next to it.  When we pulled in, imagine my dismay to SEE the sign actually said BATTERIES.  (sobbing as I type)

That's it for today....another uneventful day in paradise!

I am currently in the laundry room, doing laundry (of course that's what I would be doing in the LAUNDRY ROOM) and I can get wi-fi in here so it's ALMOST painless to be in here.

Speaking of pain, my hip IS a little better today...not a lot but some so I'm thinking it will continue to get better each day until it's back to normal.

We went into "town" this am to get MORE sewer hose as our 20 FEET wasn't long enough to reach the sewer connection...it's sort of odd how it hooks up here......we got some "insider" info from the clerk on where to eat here....she followed us to our truck and was still talking.  I always find it amazing when I run into someone who can "out talk" me!

My next "wish I had" is an I-Pad that I can use in the RV when I can't access the wi-fi.  I want to get one with the flash player though so I can farm....can't let those crops go to waste!  :)

Lucy seems to being doing much better since she went on her puppy prozac. We will keep her on it awhile and then try to wean her off and see how she does.........

This morning I drove 5 miles up the road to my cousin Judy's house and had a quick visit with her and 2 other first cousins. We shared many memories and lots of laughs.

 Back to the RV, finish getting ready to hook-up and leave. I wish I had taken pictures of Judy with her new BFF, CJ, the maintenance man. We both wanted to adopt him! He is having hip surgery on Monday so we gave him a pizza/sandwich gift card for a couple meals when he gets home from rehab. His wife passed away so he shares his life with "her" (yep, that's her name),  a big friendly poodle.

We had a very uneventful trip to Long Beach, WA today. There were lots of people around to watch the parking process and I told them if they laughed at me, I would charge admission so, of course, they all laughed.

When I was moving Judy's chair this am, evidently I pulled a muscle in my hip, flank area. I could feel it happen...sort of like watching a piece of paper tear....UGH! Guess what! There MUST be more than FAT in that area 'cause it sure hurts. I know if I went to the DR. what he would say and I have what I need to take care of it. It may turn out to be a good thing we will be here the next 2 weeks! (As it turned out, it did hurt for about 10 days so I was glad I didn't have to get in and out of the truck a lot.  That really hurt!

July 12, 2011 (Our 20th Anniversary)

Today, we drove up to Mt. St. Helens.  It wasn't the best weather but I was glad it was cool.  Cool, unfortunately, turned to "really chilly" half-way up the mountain and, of course, we forgot our sweatshirts.

It turned out to be a good thing that we forgot though as we bought REALLY nice lightweight jackets, ON SALE, for 25.00 each, down from 79.00 each!  They are reversible and have fleece on the inside, even down the sleeves, and were the perfect jacket for today!

We drove up to Johnston Ridge, stopping along the way to enjoy the views from various viewing areas.  Lots of wild flowers are in bloom which added to the beauty of the area.

At Johnston Ridge, we watched a 16 minute movie that was excellent.  It really showed the power of the eruption and the path it took as it raced across the landscape at over 300 mph in some phases of it.

Outside the center is a large viewing deck and the Ranger said after the latest small eruption, over 2000 people would be waiting to get inside when he got to work at 9 am.  I was so glad we weren't part of that.  There may have been 25 people sharing the space with us today which was PERFECT!

The clouds didn't completely go away so we didn't get a GREAT view of the mountain top.  We know we can go there again and see it on a sunny day.....probably not so for the people from Holland that were there!  THAT had to be disappointing for them!


I told Judy I would have stood there and read their "guest book."  It was signed, literally, by people from all over the world!

On the way down the mountain, we stopped at Patty's Restaurant which was just adorable and the food was excellent!!  We sat outside on the back deck and had a wonderful view of the river below us which we enjoyed while enjoying our dessert of warm fruit cobbler, topped with vanilla ice cream.  Yum-O!!

We spent the rest of our anniversary cuddling three dogs who were over-joyed to see  us return!

Today WAS a "rest" day.  I slept in until 10 am and woke up to sleeping dogs and a sunny sky.  Some of you are probably laughing at that knowing 10 am isn't always early for me!

We drove down to Longview, WA and got more items to level the RV.

We grabbed a quick lunch at Subway and then came back to the RV.

I drove 5 miles up the road to visit with a first cousin, Judy, that I hadn't seen in 2-3 years.  She and her husband, Alan, have a beautiful country home with a breath-taking view.  They can sit in all the rooms in the front of their home or out on their HUGE wrap-around porch and watch the deer. (Just like YOUR place, Barb)  In fact, when I was leaving, a small buck with a nice set of antlers walked casually across the driveway and into their grassy area.....he didn't have a care in the world but he evidently hadn't peeked into any windows and saw all the "trophies" Alan brought back from his many hunting trips to Africa.

We had a nice "catch up" visit and she shared some of the beautiful quilting projects she had completed.

I came back to a sleeping Judy AND sleeping dogs!

Tomorrow we are off to see Mt. St. Helen.

All is well in our world!
